Calvin: My Theologian Pet! Calvin is the nicest cat I ever had. He is charming, smart, and a good thinker. No wonder I call him a theologian. Not only was he named after the greatest Reformed Theologian Jean Calvin, from France, but his birthday is also the same as Jean Calvin's, July 10. One specific note on his relaxed way of theologizing is that he does it the doggy way: he loves laying down on his back and taking a solemn nap (or prayer, should I say) while he is thinking about life and stuff. One of my daughters once made a very interesting comment about him. She noticed that he is the kind of "guy" who is not concerned with the hardships of life. This is how she expressed her understanding of my theologian pet, "What I like the most about Calvin is his attitude towards life. He is a cool 'guy' and gives me a sense of dependency on God just by looking how he trusts us in most everything: shelter, food, love, and a good time with his sister Gizmo." ![]() After I heard that, I started to pay a closer look on his attitude toward
life. He seems to be always in a good mood, looking up to heaven, and trusting
God. He is indeed an inspiration for me in times of worry and anxiety. This
reminds me of Jesus Christ, Who taught us not to be anxious about anything
(Matthew 6:25-34). By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deep in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him, for He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast (Psalm 33:6-9, NKJV).
